My Partner’s Beavertown Beer Lock Down Birthday.

So today is my partner Michael’s birthday. We usually celebrate it by having a big party and invite friend’s round. Obviously this year things are so different.

It’s that constant ebbing of feelings that nothing is normal or is as it should be. We can’t go to a pub and have a pint. We can’t see family. We can’t visit our friends. Sad times.

To try and make up for the lack of pub- ness I bought Michael the core pack of beers from Beavertown brewery.* My partners favourite beer.

If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen at the beginning of lockdown I bought three cases of this stuff. It’s literally amazing.

The ‘bloody ell, blood orange’ is my favourite. It’s also kind of fitting for the apocalypse, don’t you think?

The cans themselves are works of art. Designed by Nick Dwyer the creative director. What a dude.

If you haven’t guessed already where I live, there’s a BIG drinking culture. It’s kind of amazing how long all the pubs, bars and clubs have been shut.

Newcastle is one of those places where there’s always something happening or there’s a good night on. Right now it’s like a ghost town.

What worries me is how many of the places that we love to go to won’t open back up again when the pandemic has calmed down again.

Next my partner was surprised with a Muscle Foods* Parcel. We’ve been ordering these for about three months and we just LOVE them.

They’re all organic, grass fed portions of meat. Obviously the meat is free range, so it’s super lean and full of B vitamins.

What I really like about them is that the portions aren’t too big. They’re just the right size for us and the taste is really superior to what you get from supermarkets.

I feel consciously better about supporting farmers and eating meat sourced from a good place.

Plus they deliver it straight to your door. It comes packed in ice so it’s really chilled and ready for freezing if needs be. In this pack we got:

  • 10-12 x 200g Premium Chicken Breasts (2.5kg)
  • 1 x 200g Extra Lean Free Range Diced Beef
  • 2 x 140g BBQ Chicken Steaks
  • 1 x 200g Beef Steak Mince
  • 2 x 114g Extra Lean Steak Burgers
  • 2 x 170g Horseshoe Gammon Steaks
  • 6 x 66g Lean Pork & Apple Sausages
  • 10 x 35g Low Fat Unsmoked Bacon Medallions
  • 2 x 100g Pork Loin Steaks

I order some steaks to, but these weren’t part of the pack.

The delivery was free and there was also the option to double up for an extra £5 which I think is pretty awesome.

Next I got him this beanie hat from The North Face* I thought the colours on it were so cool. I bought this one from Size?* the clothing company.

He also got this new helmet, approved by the Atherton’s and some maroon racing pants. It’s for him to wear while he does down hill mountain biking.

It’s a bit of an extreme sport. If you’d like to see what he does you can add him on Instagram @walkman1985

We are just chilling today and drinking some beer. We might have a dance in the kitchen when the kids have gone to bed. We’re both music lovers and Michael collects Vinyls, so I’m sure we’ll get the turn tables on a some point.

I’m cooking steaks for tea, with dauphinois potatoes, garlic mushrooms with chorizo and some peppercorn sauce. (All my partners favourites).

Until tomorrow, have a great day everyone. I’ve got some exciting news about a new jewellery company I’ve partnered up with. Looking forward to shooting some content for that.

Much love,

Soph.

*None of these companies are sponsored or promotions. They’re just things we love.
