So What is My Blog About?
I started this blog as a kind of creative space for my photography, thoughts and passions, but it quickly morphed into more than that…
As I started writing more content my personality kinda came flooding out, with my love of vintage styles and humanity, I soon realised…
“Hey, I’m not the only one out there that thinks the zodiac is legit and believes in astrology.” Turns out, I’m not as wacky as I thought.
“I’m also not the only one who found turning thirty hard (it’s okay to have a midlife crisis)… and I’m not the only blogger out there who is struggling to grow to make it as a writer.”
When I first started blogging in Sep 2020 I spent hours trying to figure out how to do SEO research, how to grow my social media accounts and how to get my stats up…
So, I thought I could start sharing what has worked for me and what has helped me to get this far, in hope that someone out there could breathe a sigh of relief and focus on making their awesome content instead…
My goal for the future is simply to keep going, who knows what the future holds or how my blog will grow? One thing I do know, however, is that it’s a ‘Writer’s Life for Me.’
My Answers for the Brainstorms Award questions…
1. What was your favourite experience?
My favourite experience was visiting a chocolate shop in Paris when I was young and tasting ‘real’ chocolate for the first time. It started my love for food and is probably why I ended up working as a chef for ten years.
The other ones are probably to inappropriate to share, ha!
2. Is there a place you haven’t been to but would like to go to?
Yes, Italy! My best friend lives there but I still haven’t visited. It is also kind of a dream of mine to move there one day. I’d love to get a little cottage in Abruzzo and do it up. I’d probably start a blog about it…
‘My Abruzzo Daydream‘ or something like that. I love travelling though so I’d be happy to travel anywhere.
3. Has the pandemic changed you in any way?
Yes absolutely. I’ve blogged about this quite a lot.
I was a work driven, high energy caffeine guzzler, working in kitchens as a chef before moving into sales in my 30’s, the pandemic forced me to stop.
I realised that all that constant go was making me ill. The Pandemic forced me to realised that I had to calm down and focus on myself. This shift was so powerful it inspired me to share my journey in the hope I could help others.
All that money wasn’t important to me anymore, I just wanted to be happy. I have a post about it that you can read here.
4. If you had lots of money what would you spend it on?
My dream home in Italy, my kids and travelling. In fact, I’d probably take my children travelling across the world.
If there was anything left after that I’d like to start a charity for schizophrenia. My father suffered from schizophrenia so mental illness was a huge part of my childhood.
I still think there’s a huge lack of research or information out there about it. I’d like to help families affected by mental illness. It’s also what inspires me to blog about anxiety and wellness.
5. Who do you admire and why?
If I was to answer who inspires me I guess it would be poets from the past. I love literature so there would be a lot of writers thrown in there too. People like John Keats, Hunter S Thompson, William Blake, Stanley Kubrick, Esther Fraud…
I love art also, so artists like Salvador Dali, Picasso, Van Gough, Miss Van, Lora Zombie, to name a minuscule amount.
Basically, creative misfits…
My Nominations
The Internet Ruined Everything – Totally wacky and out there. It’s like a dark satire, mixed in with laugh out loud moments. I can’t stop reading this guy’s writing and I love that he’s a month behind on his rent. Check him out for something different.
ZoewieZoe – I love this ladies writing, every time I read her posts I’m in awe. Other than the fact that we both have Mallen Streaks (strange) and my daughter has the name Zowie (I thought she was the only one) I look forward to reading her posts on Sunday nights. Try her puzzling poetry or tinder tales…
Wild Like the Flowers – Poetry that gets you thinking in a philosophical way and illustration. It always brightens my day when these pop up in my email list.
The Travel Vine – If you love travelling and reading blog posts about travel look no further. I wish I’d known about this blog during the Pandemic it would of chased away my travel woes, anyway I love this blog. The travel Vine.
Kayleigh Zara – For awesome blogging tips look no further. From everything on how to sell an Ebook to improving your DA. I would highly recommend it.
My Questions for my nominees
- What is your biggest regret and why?
- Can you do a cartwheel? (I’m totally envious if you can)
- Are you a lone wolf? Or extremely sociable and outgoing? (I’ve always secretly wondered if bloggers can be extroverts)
- If you could start your blog again what would you do differently this time?
- Who are your three favourite authors of all time?
I really enjoyed writing this today. It made my day. I found it so difficult only choosing five blogs! If I didn’t nominate you, comment below with your answers to my questions and your blog URL so I can view your blog…
I’m always fascinated by blogs and I’ve probably spent as much time reading them over the years, as I have spent working on mine. I’m always happy to discover a new one.
Thanks for reading everyone. I’m overjoyed to have got a nomination for the Brainstorms Award.

You little sweetheart! Thanks so much for nominating me. Great post. You should definitely buy your dream house and move to Italy one day. I’ve been there twice and it’s honestly one of the best places I’ve ever visited 🙂
One day 😊 you are most welcome x
Thank you for your lovely response to my nomination and your kind words about my blog. I hope you do get to Italy soon.
I’m glad you’ve learnt to slow down and take care of yourself. 😀
An Italian life would be the dream… and yes slowing down has improved my quality of life so much. Thanks for your lovely comments as always Rachel x
I LOVE your answer to question number 3 and you do share inspiration a whole lot!
Also: thanks SO much for the nomination and shoutout – but I’m one of those lazy cranky fucks who doesn’t do the blogawards thing (because with the number of passthebaton awards there are…that would be a fulltime mission).
But I loooove the way you put me in there. Made my day!
I thought that might be your answer haha! I figured it wasn’t your style but I love your blog so…
And thanks, can’t wait for your next post. Soph.
