Morning Dew and Glowing skin, a natural skincare review

I’m reviewing these gorgeous products from Dew today. I’ve been sent a gorgeous face mask made of pink clay and Rosehip and a Rose face toner.

First up, I wanted to say that these products are handmade, natural and are made with anti-anxiety aromas in mind. Visit Dewshop.co.uk here.

They’re exactly the type of products I love to buy, so although it’s a review, I’m going to give you my honest opinion. Skincare is so important after all.

I wanted to share some thoughts on skincare firstly because it’s so easy to purchase things and not even pay attention to the label.

When you really start indulging in skincare and learning about ingredients, what’s good for your skin and what isn’t, you start to realise that standard things like moisturiser contain so many unnecessary chemicals. Half of which I can’t even pronounce, let alone know what they do!

I think as a nation we’ve become so fixated on branding and logos that we forget sometimes that the chemicals contained within skincare can be harmful to us. As consumers, brands don’t always have our best interests at heart.

I became fascinated by skincare after a ten year battle with acne, which eventually I defeated, although I’m still prone to breakouts. I then began to Derma roll, which left my skin soo thirsty (you can read about that here).

Anyway, the years of harsh acne and treatments left my skin dry, damaged and scared. When I discovered dermal rolling I dove deep into skincare products from moisturisers to facials, to serums and really started to educate myself on what I was actually putting onto my skin.

Since then I’ve become fascinated by natural products and when I find some it makes me want to shout about it from the rooftops. Albeit it might make me seem a little strange, they are just so hard to find these days. Even companies like lush sneak in chemicals from time to time. They use synthetics such as SLS, parabens and ‘fragrances’.

Skincare that’s Over-Dew

Excuse the pun, I had to. The makeup look I’ve been loving over the past two years is dewy makeup. It takes years off and it gives you a flawless, fresh-faced and healthy look. The secret behind the perfect dewy skin look, however, is your skin.

What I love about these products is that they bring out that dewy rose-tinted skin that’s ready to shimmer through any makeup look. Think milky pink completions, tight pores and supple softness.

I selected the dry skin products because, you know I have seriously dry skin, my face drinks up the moisture! I love drying masks but I’m always a little dubious about trying them as they really dry out my face and can even hurt a little so I use them sparingly.

I recently posted a post on natural face-mask remedies that you can make at home to combat breakouts. I used all-natural ingredients here, but again, no clay drying masks. So when I got this product I was a little worried it would aggravate my dry skin.

I love pink clay. It has some amazing skin benefits such as removing blackheads for a clear complexion. It’s also rich in Silica, which may help to improve skin elasticity and cell renewal, resulting in supple, younger-looking skin.

Rosehip is also good for breakouts. Rosehip oil is rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants, which are integral for tissue and cell regeneration in the skin.

So this is a potent little pot of goodness. What I will say about this product is that the rosehip oil really softens the pink clay. It also stops the product from drying out and makes it malleable.

I used a little brush to apply this mask. It has a dense texture that is easy to cover the face. I would say that each little pot contains around seven mask applications. Priced at £8.99 for a small size, I think this is really good value. Buy your little pot of goodness here.

I was also really generous with my applications (my daughter even tried some) so you might be able to make it go further. The cute little pot is easy to seal to stop the product from drying out in-between applications.

After my first application, my skin felt tighter. It also helped minimise some blemishes and left my skin feeling soft and supple. I left my mask on for 20 mins and the drying wasn’t uncomfortable. It also washed off with ease.

After my fourth application, my skin has a rosy glow once again, my blemishes have cleared up and my skin feels tighter and hydrated. But what I love most about this is that there are no chemicals in it whatsoever.

Rosey Glow Toner

Next up is the rose toner for dry skin. Priced at £9.50 I love this stuff. There’s also an orange blossom toner for oily skin.

I love toners, I very rarely used to use them because I didn’t really understand what they were for. A face toner is a fast-acting, quick hydration boost to the skin that removes dead skins cells. It prepares the skin before you apply moisturiser, or makeup, by closing and cleaning the pores.

It balances the natural pH levels of your skin, taking away impurities and helping your skin absorb the skin products you later apply. Toners are actually super important!

Use the toner after you’ve cleansed the skin. Made from rose petals this handmade product smells divine. I mentioned earlier Dew’s ethos is to produce products that are anti-anxiety and this toner certainly delivers.

Is there anything more relaxing than a spa day? Well, these products will take you there. A gorgeous scent to match a gorgeous product, this toner glides onto the skin to create a protective barrier of rose petals.

Rose is really good for hydrating dry skin, which helps with anti-ageing. It’s also a natural astringent to help with breakouts, combating inflammation and redness.

Dewy skin, Dew to make you smile

I’ve also been given a code to share with you for an amazing 5% off Dew’s handmade products, but it expires on the 13th of February so if you want to purchase something before Valentine’s Day and grab your discount you’d better hurry!

Use the code STARTINGTODAY when you checkout!

I also wanted to talk about some of their other products because they sound amazing. All products are vegan apart from the lip balm which contains beeswax.

There are clay hair masks to detoxify the scalp. Overnight lip masks and hand cream. I’m smitten with this brand and so happy to be sharing my review with you.

I also loved the cute packaging and the little hessian bag! I thought they would make the most awesome Valentine’s Day gift, even if you’re single, why not just buy one for yourself?

What’s not to love about natural skincare? My skin is glowing!

Thanks for reading,

Soph.
