My daughter turned 4 this week and so to celebrate we had our annual mad hatter’s tea party. Of course, the Lion’s Gate Portal opened up this year, a lucky astrological event for all signs and there was a super moon in Aquarius, so it’s always a special time of year, and my daughter’s birthday just happens to coincide with it all, so it’s always a magical day…
This year we had a Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea at How do You Do. If you’re looking for a totally bonkers venue inspired by Alice in Wonderland, well, I love this place. Our afternoon tea was filled with plenty of English finger sandwiches, scones and various sweet treats. We were also served prosecco with a choice of tea or coffee, with dainty teacups and plates.
My daughter loved the decor and had great fun opening her presents and they were very accommodating to the birthday girl, even though she was only 4. There was plenty of space for her to explore and the views over the sea are beautiful.
Another of my favourite places in this area for drinks and food is the Ships Cat, both are fantastic. But there a plenty of great places to visit on North Shields Fish Quay.

I bought myself a new dress for the occasion, with vintage vibes but I’ll post about that some other time. I can’t wait for my daughter to try on her new ball gown! All in all, I think she had a fantastic day and I’d really recommend this place.
Thanks for reading,
Soph.
